Unclean

I spent the holidays with my relatives in Houston.  My brother-in-law used to be a staunch conservative, but over the years as he has earned a law degree and then gone on to PhD work, he has become a liberal.   He reads the New Yorker, Rolling Stone, Village Voice and blamed "Big Oil" for at least two different problems with Houston's transit system.  He even thought Bono would be a great pick for the Nobel Peace Prize.

As long as we just dealt with Family everything was great, but I am learning not to talk politics with him anymore.

The funniest thing he said was that Houston's METRO and Light Rail System were flawed and screwed up because Houston is a "Big Oil" town and they don't want that kind of stuff.  I tried to tell him the screw ups were more the results of bureauacrats and whackos involved in local politics than any outside interestes of "Big Oil", to which he replied money is the mothers milk of Politics and "Big Oil" has lots of money.

"Big Oil" couldn't give a flying flip about Houston's Transit System.  Hell they don't even care about promoting gas guzzling cars.  Distillates (gasoline and such) are only a fraction of the Pie compared to plastics and performace chemicals, and "Big Oil" is more worried about congress imposing all kinds of crazy environmental rules that will kill ALL of their businesses to even spend a dime thinking about a silly little train or bus!  What do they care?  They are probably FOR the train becasue it makes them look like a caring corporation.

Jeez...Blame "Big Oil" because Houston's light rail and bus system sucks.

Here's a hint, the Liberals and Tree-Huggers screwed it up.
